RSS Officers Sworn in Ahead Of 50th CARICOM Conference

Thirty-five police officers from members states on the Regional Security System (RSS) are in St. Kitts and Nevis to support security operations for the 50th Session of the CARICOM Heads of Government Conference.

The officers were formally sworn in as Special Constables by Commissioner of Police, Mr. James Sutton, ahead of the high-level regional meeting. By taking the oath, they are authorized to exercise full police powers within the Federation during their deployment. This allows them to operate with the same legal authority, protections, and responsibilities as local officers under the Police Act.

At the brief swearing-in ceremony, Commissioner Sutton welcomed the RSS contingent and expressed appreciation for their continued commitment to regional cooperation and shared security efforts. He noted the importance of unity among Caribbean nations when hosting major international engagements.

Senior members of the Police High Command also extended their support.

Law enforcement officials remain confident that the combined strength of local and regional officers will ensure a safe and successful conference.
