“RSS to monitor and assess situation in SKN” says PM Drew

“As Chairman, I have asked the RSS to monitor and assess the current situation here and keep me informed of their observations. Indeed, we will leave no stone unturned in your security and safety”, words from Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister and current Chairman of the Regional Security System (RSS), the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew.

It comes following the recent murders in the Federation during the week of Apr. 14th to the 20th, which took SKN’s murder count to 11 for 2024.

The RSS is vested with the objectives and responsibilities of fostering collaboration among its Member States in various domains, including but not limited to combating the trafficking of illegal narcotics, responding to national emergencies, conducting search and rescue operations and enforcing immigration control. St. Kitts & Nevis has been a member of the RSS since 1983.

In a statement on Friday April 19th, PM Drew said he supports “the ongoing initiatives of the Security Forces and “your government regards safety and security as a fundamental priority.” The Prime Minister also condemned “the criminal acts of those who persist in perpetuating crimes.”

He encouraged the Security Forces “to work tirelessly in creating the enabling environment”.
