St. Kitts and Nevis has reached its highest position ever on the Henley Passport Index, ranking 23rd globally in the 2026 edition, underscoring a steady rise in international mobility over the past two decades.

When the index was first introduced in 2006, the twin-island nation ranked 40th. Since then, despite periodic fluctuations, its passport strength has consistently improved.

The Henley Passport Index evaluates 199 passports against 227 destinations, assigning scores based on whether holders can enter without a prior visa, including access via visas on arrival, visitor permits, or electronic travel authorities.

St. Kitts and Nevis now offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 155 destinations, including Europe’s Schengen Area which consists of 29 European countries, reflecting expanded diplomatic ties and international trust.

Marking its 20th anniversary, the index which is compiled using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reveals growing disparities in global mobility. While Singapore remains the world’s most powerful passport with access to 192 destinations and Afghanistan ranks last with just 24 destinations, St. Kitts and Nevis’ upward trajectory stands out as a notable success in global passport rankings.

Additionally the creator of the Henley Passport Index is the global firm Henley & Partners which specializes in residence and citizenship planning. They have over 70 worldwide offices.
