The United Kingdom will begin strictly enforcing its Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) requirement from February 25th, 2026, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saint Kitts and Nevis.

The UK Government confirmed that from that date, “ETA is a legal requirement, and carriers will not board eligible visitors without valid permission to travel.” The requirement applies to all travellers entering or transiting through the UK, with the exception of British and Irish citizens.

The Ministry noted that prior flexibility allowing travellers to board with proof of a pending ETA application will end. “From that date onward, travellers must hold an approved ETA (or other valid permission) before travelling,” the release stated, adding that “evidence of a pending application will no longer be accepted for boarding.”

An ETA is required for eligible passengers who do not need a visa for short stays and who do not already hold UK immigration status. The Ministry advised that applying is “quick and simple” through the official UK ETA app and urged travellers to apply “at least three working days before travel” to avoid disruption.

Travellers were encouraged to plan ahead and ensure compliance with the UK’s updated entry requirements.
