Sasha Lloyd First Saint Kitts and Nevis National Selected for Prestigious UN Fellowship

Ms. Sasha Lloyd, Crown Counsel II at the Attorney General’s Chambers of Saint Kitts and Nevis, has become the first national from the Federation to be awarded the Italy-AOSIS Fellowship at the United Nations.

 

The fellowship, running through 2026, attaches Ms. Lloyd to the Permanent Mission of Saint Kitts and Nevis in New York. She will support the Mission’s work in the UN Sixth Committee, focusing on legal affairs and multilateral negotiations.

 

Ms. Lloyd, who hails from Nevis, holds a Master of Laws in International Maritime Law and works on environmental and maritime issues for small island states.

 

The Italy-AOSIS Fellowship is a capacity-building program that selects ten early-career professionals annually to gain diplomatic and negotiation experience, especially in climate diplomacy and ocean governance.

 

Ambassador Mutryce Williams praised Ms. Lloyd’s selection as a milestone for the Federation, emphasizing the importance of developing local expertise in international law and diplomacy.

 

Ms. Lloyd expressed gratitude and highlighted the fellowship’s role in strengthening Saint Kitts and Nevis’s voice on maritime and climate issues.
