Second man charged in connection with 2024 Double Murder

Dequan Dore of East Street, Newtown, St. Kitts has been charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder in connection with the killings of 30-year-old Devon Parris and nine-year-old J’Marni Smithen, both of Craddock Road, Nevis. The murders occurred on August 1st, 2024, in Newton Ground, St. Kitts, while the alleged offence by Mr. Dore took place the following day.

 

 

Mr. Dore was formally charged on August 22nd, 2025, at the Basseterre Police Station. He is the second person to face charges in this case; the first, Jesus Valdez of John Street, Newtown, was charged with both murders on December 23rd, 2025.

 

 

The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force extended its sincere gratitude to the public for their assistance. With investigations ongoing, police urge anyone with additional information to come forward to ensure that justice is fully served.

 

 

Section 4 of the Accessories and Abettors Act states: “every accessory after the fact to any felony (except where it is otherwise specially enacted), shall be liable to be imprisoned for any term not exceeding two years, with or without hard labour.”
