Shadwell supermarket robbed twice in one week

Police have confirmed to the VONNEWSLINE that a robbery occurred at a supermarket, during the afternoon hours on Monday June 3rd, in Shadwell, St. Kitts, the second time in the space of a week.

Videos on social media depict a lone male assailant with a hat on his head and a machete in his hand, robbing the store of an undisclosed sum of money.

Reports coming out of St. Kitts indicate that as the man was exiting the store, a police officer entered and the cashier indicated to the officer that the supermarket “has just been robbed.” The officer quickly pursued the man leading to his arrest and he was taken to the Basseterre Police Station, where he is expected to be charged.

This comes in the wake of a robbery that occurred at the same supermarket in Shadwell, on Monday May 27th, between 2PM and 3PM.

A police spokesperson said a release on the matter will be issued.
