The Hon. Dr. Shawn Richards, MP (Member of Parliament for St. Christopher #5-Sandy Point) has been re-elected as the new Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM). He gave this comment to the VONNEWSLINE:
He was elected at a Special Caucus convened at the party’s headquarters, in Basseterre, St. Kitts, on Tuesday, Sep. 1st. A press release from the party mentioned Mr. Richards “received 72 votes, while Lincoln David-Pelle secured 9 votes. Two ballots were spoiled, for a total of 83 votes cast.”
Dr. Richards, who has served as the Political Leader, from 2012-2014, becomes the sixth Leader of the party. His nomination was made by Deputy Political Leader Azard Gumbs and seconded by Acting Chairperson Mrs. Carlene Henry-Morton.
