Should Culturama have been taken over by the government? The question lingers…

With the topic of ‘Culturama’ currently buzzing across Nevis, one topic currently being discussed across the masses is “What was the reason for the government taking over the festival and is it best in the hands of the NIA?”

 

 

 

The Culturama Festival began in 1974 by the Nevis Dramatic and Cultural Society better known as NEDACS and would have been taken over by the Simeon Daniel led government in 1990 and remains in possession of the current Nevis Island Administration government headed by Hon. Mark Brantley.

 

 

 

During Tuesday’s Let’s Talk Programme, panelists indulged in the conversation as it relates to the question behind the history of Culturama.

The voice of a well-known calypsonian in the festival’s earlier years, Mr. Williams Dore known in the calypso arena as “Zumbye De Guy”.

 

 

 

In celebration of Culturama 50, Mr. Dore will be making his debut for the festival.
