“Sip Sustainably” – A new Campaign to reduce Plastic Pollution and Promote Healthy Practices

That was the voice of Executive Director of the Nevis Historical and Conservation Society (NHCS), Ms. Terysia Herbert. She was speaking on a recently launched campaign dubbed “Sip Sustainably: Sea the Change”.

The campaign which began in June and will end August 2025, is a collaboration between the organizations of the NHCS, and two other organizations, Lake Health and Wellbeing and Blue Conscience.

Ms. Herbert spoke about one of the activities of the campaign which have already begun:

In addition, to the beach cleanups there will be a panel discussion focusing on reducing the amount of plastics making it into our oceans, reducing the consumption of sugary beverages and will examine the intersection of ocean health and human health.

Persons are also encouraged to replace sugary drinks such as sodas with water and to separate their waste and take advantage of the Recycling Project on the islands.
