Tuesday November 7th 2023 saw the commencement of the sitting of the High Court of Justice (Nevis Circuit) for the trial of criminal assizes.

The proceedings on Tuesday involved two cases: the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) vs Ryan Powell. Powell was charged with two counts, namely: causing death by dangerous driving (where he pleaded not guilty) and causing death by careless driving (with Powell pleading guilty).

The other involved: the DPP vs Ervin Allen. Allen was charged with two counts of Attempted Murder (he pleaded not guilty).

All persons including jurors, witnesses and sureties having any business before the court, were asked to govern themselves accordingly.
