Sixteen persons complete Emergency Dispatch Training on Nevis

A total of sixteen persons on the island of Nevis have recently completed all the requirements to become APCO certified Emergency Dispatchers.

This development was made following the training programme which took place over a number of weeks. Thirteen of the individuals will serve as dispatchers for the NEVCOM Unit while 3 were trained for managerial oversight and as volunteer reserves.

In addition, the programming and distribution of radios to various agencies, Police, Fire, Disaster, and Hospital—have also been successfully completed. This includes portable radios, mobile radios, base stations, and their necessary accessories, ensuring seamless communication among our emergency services.

The programme was executed through collaboration between the Ministry of Health et.al and the Four Seasons Homeowners Foundation and the Four Seasons Resort. This also comes following announcements by the government to form an Emergency Dispatch System where residents on the island will be able to access professionals to assist in the time of a health, criminal, fire or other emergency.
