In light of Law Week which commenced on Sunday, November 24th, the SKN Bar Association is hosting a week of activities, under the theme: “Mastering the clock, balancing the scales of Law and Life”.
President of the St. Kitts and Nevis Bar Association, Ms. Kurlyn Merchant outlined the planned activities:
(Today) Friday, the SKN Bar Association will discuss its sentencing guidelines. The discussion will be done by Resident Judge in St. Kitts, Hon. Ian Marley KC and Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Adlay Smith.
The week culminates on Saturday with a Sports Day and Cricket Tournament starting at 1:30pm:
Ms. Merchant is encouraging attorneys who are in practice and new lawyers to not shy away from Criminal law practice as there aren’t enough in the OECS and it is one of the most important areas of law that contributes to public awareness and legal aid.
