A delegation from St. Kitts and Nevis, led by Federal Minister of Environment, et. al,  Hon. Dr. Joyelle Clarke, strengthened bilateral cooperation with the Republic of China (Taiwan) during an ongoing technical mission focused on sustainable development and energy transition.

During the visit, officials signed the Implementing Arrangement for the St. Kitts and Nevis Green Energy Transition Demonstration Project with the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF). The project will establish a microgrid at the St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) transmission and distribution facility in Needsmust, integrating solar photovoltaic systems, battery energy storage, and advanced energy management platforms. Grid simulations and technical training will also be included to build local capacity.

The delegation also met with St. Kitts and Nevis students studying at universities across Taiwan at the Federation’s Embassy in Taipei. Students engaged the officials on national progress in water, infrastructure and environmental development, while discussing how they can contribute upon completing their studies.

The mission, sponsored by the Government of Taiwan, includes policy discussions, technical site visits and research exchanges aimed at strengthening cooperation in renewable energy, environmental management, climate resilience and legislative development in support of the Federation’s Sustainable Island State Agenda.
