SKN honours Anne Eliza Liburd in OAS ‘Suffragettes’ Initiative
The Permanent Observer Mission of Spain to the Organization of American States (OAS) has embarked on Volume 2 of its ‘Suffragettes’ initiative, celebrating trailblazing women of the Americas. Among those recognized is Saint Kitts and Nevis’ own Anne Eliza Liburd, a stalwart advocate for women’s rights and civic participation.
Launched in 2024, the Suffragettes initiative highlights the contributions of pioneering women across OAS Member States, ensuring their impact is acknowledged and celebrated for generations to come.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Denzil Douglas, visited the Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) in commemoration of International Women’s Month, as a precursor to Ms. Liburd’s inclusion in the upcoming volume.
The exhibit honors Mrs. Liburd’s lifelong dedication to advancing women’s social and political causes within the Federation.
Minister Douglas was welcomed by Ambassador Carmen Montón, Permanent Observer of Spain to the OAS, and Adriana Ospina, Director of the AMA.
He was accompanied by Ambassador Jacinth Henry-Martin, Permanent Representative of Saint Kitts and Nevis to the OAS, and diplomats from the Federation’s OAS Mission.
