SKN Labour Party files Election Petitions on June 26th, 2020

Leader of the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP), Dr. the Hon. Denzil Douglas.

Dr. Douglas’ comments came after the Labour Party filed election petitions on Friday, June 26th, 2020 challenging the results of the June 5th General Elections, in six of the eight seats in St. Kitts.

At the General Elections, the Party secured 2 of the 11 seats.

The SKNLP is challenging the results in Constituencies # Two, Three, Four, Five, Seven and Eight.

The Team Unity alliance made up of three (3) political parties here in St. Kitts & Nevis namely: the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) Party, the People’s Action Movement (PAM) and People’s Labour Party (PLP), won 9 seats (CCM-3, PLP-2, PAM-4).

The Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) was unable to secure a seat.

An election petition refers to the procedure for challenging the result of a Parliamentary Election.

Despite a CARICOM Observer Mission team declaring the elections were “free and fair”, Dr. Douglas claimed “cheating” took place.
