The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF) has issued a statement in light of the recent spate of reported robbery incidents over the weekend. Police confirmed to the VONNEWSLINE that at least four (4) known robberies occurred between Aug. 11th and the 12th, at Rams Supermarket, etc.

In addressing concerns from the general public and the business community, the Force said “in alignment with the “zero tolerance” approach to crime and violence, the Force has increased its investigative capacity through the deployment of additional manpower and resources to address the spate of robberies.”

In the statement, Police implored “citizens and businesses to be vigilant and proactive in safeguarding their well-being and assets” and encouraged business proprietors, “to assess and bolster their existing security protocols, and where applicable, to implement cash-handling procedures that prioritize employee safety.”

Among the recommended security measures are the implementation of burglar alarm systems and closed circuit television (CCTV) set-ups as these offer a robust layer of security that applies equally to both commercial establishments and residential properties. The RSCNPF will continue to assist and collaborate with stakeholders to address security concerns where applicable. The Police Force remains “confident that this spike in criminal activity will be successfully and strongly quelled, and peace and order restored to society.”
