SKN regains “partial visa-free access” to Canada

Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew.

In November 2014, Canada introduced visa requirements on citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis due to security concerns regarding passport issuance and identity management within the nation’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program, thus ending the visa-free travel previously enjoyed by Kittitian and Nevisian citizens.

Since then, efforts were made by the federal government to restore the visa-free access arrangement. As of June 2023, Canada eased restrictions, allowing certain citizens of St. Kitts and Nevis to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) instead of a full visa.

The advancement by the Prime Minister and his administration forms part of a broader diplomatic and policy effort undertaken by the Federal Government.
