Over fifty (50) years ago on June 10th, 1967, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force (SKNDF) played a crucial role in restoring order during the Anguilla Secession Crisis to restore peace, order and assert state authority.
In a social media post, the SKNDF hailed the occasion as a historic moment marking the transition into a “professional and resilient military force”.
It outlined its commitment to continue serving the federation in its broad variety of responsibilities including: protection of our borders, swift response to natural disasters, deterring criminal activities and representing national pride at home and abroad.
They recognized over thirty (30) individuals who provided their service during “those challenging times”.
Meantime, on Sunday, June 8th, 2025, 10 members of the Infantry and Coast Guard Unit of the SKNDF departed for Barbados while 10 soldiers from the Barbados Defence Force arrived in the federation.
This is part of an exchange initiative introduced by Acting Commander of the SKNDF, Major Kayode Sutton, to share best practices, build camaraderie, and contribute to mutual training and development.
There is a strong partnership with Chief of Defence Staff of the Barbados Defence Force, Brigadier Carlos Lovell, to enhance the capabilities of both forces.
