SKNLP kicks off celebrations for 93rd anniversary

The St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) “has officially begun the celebration of 93 years of unwavering service”, the party stated on social media.

To kick off celebrations, a church service was held on Sunday at The Good News Baptist Church in Lime Kiln to commemorate its anniversary.

The Party was founded in 1932, making it the oldest political party not only in St. Kitts and Nevis but in the entire English-speaking Caribbean.

SKNLP, initially known as the St. Kitts Workers’ League, changed its name to the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla Labour Party in 1966. After Anguilla’s secession in 1980, the party adopted its current name.

Prime Minister and Leader of the SKNLP, Dr. Terrance Drew, stated via his Facebook page, “I sincerely thank the leadership over the many years and especially the rank and file—the comrades of our great Party.”
