Assistant Commissioner of Police, Andre Mitchell, speaking at the Police Force’s first press conference for 2026 on Jan. 7th.
His comments came following a question posed by the VONNEWSLINE.
Detection rate is the ratio (or correlation) between how many crime investigations have been finalized as detected to the total number of crime investigations finalized in a particular period.
In other words, it represents the percentage of recorded crimes that are solved. This means police identify at least one suspect and take action, such as charging.
