St. Kitts & Nevis’ Governor-General will be absent from the Federation for a short duration. A press release from the Government House-St. Kitts, said “Her Excellency Dame Marcella A. Liburd, GCMG, JP wishes to advise that she will be absent from the Federation for a short duration from Tuesday, April 14^th, 2026.”

His Excellency Mr. Walford Vincent Gumbs, OBE, JP, will serve as Governor-General’s Deputy, during Her Excellency’s absence.

In accordance with SKN’s Constitution, Mr. Gumbs was administered his Oaths at a brief ceremony at Government House on Tuesday.

Section 24 of the constitution says: a person appointed to hold or act in the office of Governor-General or to be his or her deputy shall, before entering upon the duties of that office, take and subscribe the oath of allegiance and the oath of office.
