SKN’s Gov’t signs US $13m loan agreement with Taiwan ICDF to support Basseterre Desal Plant

The Federal government signed a loan agreement with the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) of the Republic of China (Taiwan), on Thursday April 10th, valued up to US $13 million or EC $35.1 million that will support the completion of the Basseterre Desalination Plant.

 

Taiwan ICDF is a designated official development aid agency of Taiwan, dedicated to boosting socio-economic development, enhancing human resources and promoting economic relations in a range of developing partner countries, according to icdf.org.tw.

 

Work on the Basseterre Desal Plant is underway and it is anticipated to produce two million gallons a day. PM Dr. Terrance Drew expressed his appreciation to Taiwan:

A similar Desal Plant is also being constructed on Nevis.
