SKN’s PM comments on ECCB Governor’s controversial multi-million dollar residence

St. Kitts & Nevis’ Prime Minister who is responsible for Finance, the Hon. Terrance Drew, has commented on the controversial multi-million dollar official residence of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB’s) Governor.

ECCB is the Monetary Authority for the following island economies: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Christopher (St. Kitts) and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines:

St. Vincent and the Grenadines – Prime Minister, Ralph Gonsalves has condemned the construction of the EC $22 million residence and stated in a letter addressed to Chairman of the ECCU Monetary Council, Antigua’s PM Gaston Browne, “this act of excessive spending is an outrage…It is an absolute scandal.” Also, according to Antigua Newsroom, “Antigua and Barbuda has opted to withhold comment until the ECCB leadership discusses the matter collectively.” PM Drew also added:

 

The construction of the residence, which was initially budgeted at EC$7 million, has raised concerns in the public.
