SKN’s PM congratulates T&T’s Kamla Persad-Bissessar on her election win

“On behalf of the Government and people of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, I join the Caribbean Community in extending congratulations to The Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar on her election as Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago”. Those were the words from SKN’s Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, in a statement issued on Tuesday Apr. 29th.

Kamla Persad-Bissessar led the United National Congress (UNC) to win over the ruling People’s National Movement (PNM). Her UNC party secured 25 out of 41 constituencies in Monday’s general election, enough to declare a victory, based on preliminary results.

PM Drew added “Saint Kitts and Nevis looks forward to continuing to work with our sister CARICOM nation to deepen the bonds of partnership and cooperation as we pursue the collective aspirations we share for a resilient and prosperous Caribbean.”

Leader of the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) the Hon. Dr. Janice Daniel-Hodge, congratulated the incoming Prime Minister and stated on Apr. 29th, “your triumph is not only a personal achievement but also a powerful statement of the strength, resilience, and leadership women continue to bring to the forefront of Caribbean politics.

People’s Action Movement (PAM’s) leader Natasha Grey-Brookes, expressed her congratulations and said “we celebrate this important milestone with you as a sister party in the Caribbean.”

Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP), the Hon. Dr. Timothy Harris said “her triumph is a powerful reminder that resilience, hope, and unwavering love for one’s people can overcome any challenge.”
