SKN’s PM extends condolences to the Dominican Republic following nightclub tragedy

Saint Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, has expressed condolences to the Government and people of the Dominican Republic in the wake of the devastating tragedy at the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo, in which the ceiling caved in early Tuesday April 8th, which claimed the lives of more than 200 individuals.

 

In a letter addressed to President of the Dominican Republic, His Excellency Luis Abinader, Prime Minister Drew conveyed the sorrow and solidarity of the Kittitian and Nevisian people, describing the incident as an “unimaginable tragedy” and stating that the news has “sent a wave of sorrow across our region.”

 

“On behalf of my Government and the people of our Federation, I offer our most sincere sympathies and prayers,” Prime Minister Drew wrote, adding, “We grieve with you. We stand with you.” PM Drew’s message further extended prayers for healing, comfort, and strength to the families and communities affected by the tragic event.

 

In the same vein, Premier of Nevis, the Hon. Dr. Mark Brantley, said via his Facebook page on April 11th, “my brothers and sisters from the Dominican Republic, I express my deep regret on the sad loss of life when the collapse of the nightclub roof in Santo Domingo occurred. Some of you may have lost friends and family, and I extend my sincerest condolences to you. May God comfort you in this very difficult time.”
