SKN’s Prime Minister, the Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew, in his role as Chairman of CARICOM, paid tribute to Former Suriname President Chandrikapersad Santokhi at his funeral.

He extended condolences on behalf of the Government and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis and the Caribbean Community, to the Government and people of Suriname and to President Santokhi’s family.

PM Drew honoured the late leader’s vision and commitment to regional unity. The 67-year-old served as Suriname’s ninth head of state from 2020 to 2025. Mr. Santokhi died on Mar. 30^th, following a brief illness. During the former President’s funeral service on Apr. 7^th, PM Drew indicated that he was a statesman:
