SKN’s Vibrant Folklore Illuminates 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival

“Vibrant Folklore” was a lantern the Embassy of Saint Kitts and Nevis displayed at the 2025 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taoyuan. The lantern features five traditional folklore groups: the Moko Jumbie, the Clown, the Actors, the Bull and the Masquerade, placed before a backdrop photo of Nevis Peak.

 

A Lantern Switch-on ceremony was held to officially light up the lantern on Wednesday. SKN Ambassador to Taiwan, His Excellency Donya L. Francis explained at the ceremony, that it was especially significant to capture our folklore in this lantern display because the students from Saint Kitts and Nevis are known for putting on captivating, lively and engaging masquerade and clown performances.

 

Taiwan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Chia Lung Lin participated in the ceremony by switching on the lantern alongside His Excellency Donya L. Francis, Deputy Director General of the Taiwan Tourism Administration, Dr. Hsin-Jen Lin, Lantern Teacher, Mr. Wen Chuan Huang and Saint Kitts and Nevis student and cultural ambassador Kevrone Phipps.

 

The Taiwan Tourism Administration Deputy Director General, Dr. Hsin-Jen Lin presented Ambassador Francis with a plaque of appreciation for continued participation in this annual event.
