Social Security will continue to issue cheques to outstanding qualified applicants

“Should persons still expect their cheques?”

That’s a question the VONNEWSLINE posed to Senior Manager at the Nevis Branch of Social Security Board, Mr. Donovan Herbert.

The St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board’s COVID-19 Relief Fund, aids the working class of the federation whose jobs and businesses are directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In March 2020, a total of $15 million EC was allocated to assist working persons whose income has been adversely impacted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The fund specifically grants a stipend of up to $1,000.00 EC dollars to qualified applicants such as full time employees that have been laid off, employees with reduced hours, employees made redundant as a result of the pandemic and registered self-employed persons whose incomes have been impacted by the virus.

However some individuals have not yet received cheques.

Mr. Herbert addressed this concern, during the COVID-19 Briefing on Monday, July 27th, 2020.
