On April 30th, 2026, the Government of Saint Kitts and Nevis launched the Solar Integration for Sustainable Energy (SOLARISE) initiative, a major programme designed to expand renewable energy use and reduce dependence on fossil fuels in St. Kitts.
That was the voice of Federal Minister of Energy and Utilities, the Hon. Konris Maynard. The initiative introduces a formal system that allows households and businesses to generate solar power and supply excess energy to the national grid through net billing.
Under SOLARISE, consumers can lower their electricity costs while earning from surplus energy, effectively turning rooftops into productive assets.
Energy Officer, Mr. Denasio Frank shared that it is a structured five step process:
The initiative is supported by tax incentives and the online platform solarise.gov.kn that simplifies the application process in two separate parts for existing solar systems and those who intend to install a solar system.
