SS Spokesperson urges individuals to “inquire” the status of Stimulus cheques, under the Relief Fund

“If you have not received or collected your cheque, come to inquire as to the status”

That was a comment from Public Relations Manager at the St. Christopher and Nevis Social Security Board, Ms. Kamilah Lawrence which is in relation to the Social Security’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund.

In speaking with the VONNEWSLINE, Ms. Lawrence told us that there is an unspecified number of uncollected cheques.

Moreover, the Public Relations Manager appealed to persons to visit Social Security here on Nevis at Pinney’s Industrial Site or call 469-5245.

In St. Kitts, the Main Office is located on the Bay Road in Basseterre, or you can call 465-2535.

The Social Security’s COVID-19 Emergency Relief Fund was created to assist all working persons, whose incomes have been directly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, by providing a payment of up to EC$ 1,000.00 which was for three (3) months in the first instance (April, May and June of 2020).

However, last year the Board announced a continued Stimulus payment for the unemployed for the month of September only and specifically, this payment was to provide relief to those persons who were still laid off/unemployed as a result of COVID-19 in the Tourism and related sectors, according to socialsecurity.kn.

Beneficiaries of the fund include: Full time and part-time employees who have been laid off, employed but with reduced hours, persons made redundant as a result of the pandemic and registered Self-employed persons, whose incomes were impacted by the pandemic.
