As part of its 45th Anniversary celebrations, the St. Christopher & Nevis Social Security Board hosted a virtual panel discussion entitled “The Future of Social Security” last evening.

Panelists include: CFO of Social Security Board, Ms. Marilyn Johnson, Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB’s) Deputy Governor, Dr. Valda Henry, Actuary and Executive Director of St. Vincent and the Grenadines National Insurance Services, Stewart Haynes. The discussion was moderated by VON Radio’s Evered “Webbo” Herbert.

This forum allowed social security practitioners, as well as other knowledgeable professionals in the field, to discuss the origins of Social Security, trends, projections, opportunities and challenges of Social Security systems.

The theme for the Anniversary celebrations is “Transform, Reform, Thrive; Social Security 45”. February 1st 2023 is the date the Board officially marked its 45th year of operations.

The scheme can best be described as being in the ownership of its basic stakeholder groups, which can be categorized as (but may not be limited to) employers, insured persons and government. The discussion was carried live on VON Radio 860AM and vonradio.com.
