St. John’s Preschool, VOJN and Washington Archibald High Top National Recycling Competition
In a display of environmental commitment, the Taiwan Technical Mission along with other collaborative partners hosted the award ceremony for the 2025 National Recycling Competition.
A total of 55 schools participated across the nation, with 38 in St. Kitts and 17 in Nevis. A staggering collection of 19,000 pounds of recyclables were received which is two to three times more than last year’s total. Of the 55 schools there were 23 winners across 3 different categories.
For the early childhood centres in order of first to tenth place the winners are: 1 – St. John’s Preschool, 2 – Combermere Preschool, 3 – Cayon Daycare Centre, 4 – Charlestown Preschool, 5 – Old Road Daycare Centre, 6 – Inez France Preschool, 7 – Vanta E. Walters Daycare Centre, 8 – McKnight Daycare Centre, 9 – Dieppe Bay Daycare Centre, and 10 – Sandy Point Preschool.
The Violet O. Jeffors Nicholls Primary topped the primary school category followed by the Epworth Maurice Hillier Memorial Junior School and Tucker Clarke Primary in second and third respectively. The other winning schools from fourth to tenth place were: 4 – St. Paul’s Primary School, 5 – Charlestown Primary School, 6 – Edgar T. Morris Primary School, 7 – Cecele Browne Integrated School, 8 – St. Thomas Primary School, 9 – Elizabeth Pemberton Primary School, and 10 – SKI Academy.
Finally, for the secondary schools the Washington Archibald High School topped their competition followed by the Dr. Denzil Llewellyn Douglas Secondary School in second and the Basseterre High School in third place.
