St. Kitts and Nevis joined the rest of the world in celebrating International Domestic Workers on Thursday, June 16^th, 2022. 

According to domesticworkers.org, the day honors the leadership of domestic workers in the fight for better protection across the world. 

The St. Kitts & Nevis Department of Labour in commemoration of the day stated that: “it’s time for societies to recognize domestic workers contribution and to enable them to enjoy their human rights to social security.” 

International Domestic Workers Day marks the anniversary of the 2011 passage of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention 189 for Decent Work for Domestic Workers, establishing the international labor law for domestic workers.
