The Ministry of Health in St. Kitts and Nevis has issued a travel advisory urging citizens to be vaccinated against Yellow Fever before visiting affected countries. The warning follows reports from the Pan American Health Organization of rising cases across seven countries in the Americas, including Brazil, Colombia, and Venezuela. Other affected countries in the region include Guyana, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), travellers must receive the vaccine at least 10 days before departure to areas with transmission risk. Proof of vaccination may also be required upon re-entry to the Federation or after extended transit through high-risk countries.

Yellow fever, a mosquito-borne viral disease, can be fatal but is preventable with a single, highly effective vaccine that provides lifelong immunity. Health officials emphasized that vaccination is both a personal safeguard and a requirement for entry into many countries, particularly in South America and Africa.

Vaccinations are available locally at designated health centres in St. Kitts and Nevis. Authorities are encouraging travellers to schedule appointments early to ensure compliance.

For further information persons are encouraged to contact their nearest health centre.
