St. Kitts and Nevis “spared” during 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season

The 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season is about to end and Meteorological officials here in St. Kitts and Nevis, have been providing summaries to the VON NEWSLINE, about the season.

 

The season officially began on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 and will end on Saturday, November 30th, 2019.

 

In regards to the number of deaths, over 60 persons have died as a result of the storms during the 2019 season, (with that number of persons referring to the Bahamas alone).  Hurricane Dorian ravaged the Bahamas on Sunday, September 1st, 2019, leaving thousands homeless.

 

In spite of the damage recorded, Senior Meteorological Officer at the Met Office in St. Kitts, Mr. Elmo Burke, gave this statement and said the Federation was unharmed during this season.
