In a public notice, the St. Kitts Department of Sports strongly condemned “recent incidents of vandalism, break-ins, and dangerous behavior at community facilities.”
“These actions, including the alarming act of vehicles skidding and drifting on our playfields, pose serious risks to the safety of our athletes and the public”, the Department said on Facebook. It came following a video in which two cars are recorded skidding on a football field.
The Department added “such behavior damages property, disrupts our communities, and undermines the spirit of sportsmanship we strive to foster.”
“To those responsible, be aware: we are working closely with law enforcement. Perpetrators will be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law” the Sports Department said.
Meantime, SOL Island Auto Conaree Football Club said on social media “such acts will not be taken lightly. Persons should be reminded that this very same playing field is the home of the SOL Island Auto Conaree Football Club.” The Football Club called on the public “to build our community, not destroy it.”
