St. Kitts Ministry of Health refutes article on alleged “body mix-up” at JNF

The Ministry of Health-St. Kitts issued a Statement on Monday, Apr. 15th regarding the JNF General Hospital’s Operations. It comes on the heels of an online publication publishing “a story captioned: Wrong Body Buried”. In the article, according to the statement “alleges that an incident occurred as a result of a mix-up at JNF General Hospital.”

 

 

 

In the wake of this, “the Ministry of Health condemns in the strongest possible terms this falsehood.” As a consequence, the statement mentioned that “the matter has been forwarded to the Chamber of the Attorney General for the consideration of legal action against the publication.”

 

 

 

The Ministry of Health says “it maintains strict adherence to protocols concerning the handling and identification of deceased individuals. These procedures are designed to uphold the dignity of the deceased and their families, ensuring accuracy and care in the sensitive task of managing final arrangements.”

 

 

 

In addition, “We confirm that no such incident, as alleged, has occurred, and we caution the public against the dissemination of misinformation that can cause undue distress to families and communities”, the Health Ministry said. It urged the public “to rely on official sources for news concerning healthcare services in St. Kitts and Nevis.”
