St. Kitts & Nevis among countries in Eastern Caribbean, rattled by Earthquakes

St. Kitts & Nevis was among several islands in the Eastern Caribbean, rattled by Earthquakes on Thursday morning July 13th.

 

 

 

According to the Seismic Research Center at the University of the West Indies (UWI), two earthquakes were felt in several countries. The first tremor struck at 1:56 a.m. with a magnitude of 3.5, affecting sections of St Kitts-Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, and Guadeloupe. The earthquake originated at a depth of 10km.

 

 

 

Almost half an hour before this incident, at 1:29 a.m., another earthquake occurred in the region. This time, Barbados took the epicenter stage, experiencing a 3.7 magnitude quake.

 

 

 

The impact of this tremor was also felt in neighboring islands such as St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St Lucia, heightening the sense of alarm in the area.

 

 

 

There have been no reports of injuries or damage resulting from these seismic events.
