As of December 31st, 2025, “all businesses – ranging from formal enterprises to roadside vendors” must “ensure full compliance with national labelling regulations” says a release from the St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards (SKNBS).
The regulations apply to “all goods sold within the Federation, whether locally produced, imported, or distributed informally,” including prepackaged food and bottled water.
“No business is exempt from these requirements, which are intended to promote transparency, consumer safety, and product accountability” the release further stated.
Roadside vendors must ensure that all prepackaged food, snacks and beverages have an appropriate label with necessary information such as ingredients, expiration dates and contact details.
Caterers offering prepackaged meals must have labels on all meals and beverages displaying the consumer information. Manufacturers of baked goods, drinks, jams, jellies and other locally made products must also comply with the national regulations.
Businesses that fail to comply with the December 31st, 2025 deadline may face penalties such as fines, product seizures and suspension of sales.
