St. Kitts & Nevis celebrates World Water Day

“Groundwater – making the invisible visible” is the theme for this year’s celebration of World Water Day.


It is held on 22nd March every year since 1993 and focuses on the importance of freshwater, according to


World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water.


It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis.


As St. Kitts & Nevis joins the world in celebrating the occasion, Federal Minister with responsibility Water Services, the Hon. Shawn Richards said SKN’s potable water comes from rainfall:



Meanwhile, Minister of Water Services for Nevis, the Hon. Spencer Brand mentioned that groundwater production has been the main focus on the island:
