St. Kitts-Nevis Red Cross Society celebrates ‘Open Day’ in recognition World Red Cross Day

In celebration of World Red Cross Day, the St. Kitts-Nevis Red Cross Society (Nevis Branch) held an ‘Open Day’ activity on Friday, May 7th, 2021.

 

The general public was invited to the event that was held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to learn more about the areas of operation within the National Society in various Communities of St. Kitts and Nevis.

 

World Red Cross Day is celebrated on May 8th each year.

 

May 8th is the day and anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant, who was born on May 8th, 1828.

 

He was the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the recipient of the first Nobel Peace Prize.

 

The theme for this year is: “UNSTOPPABLE”.

 

The Red Cross movement is the largest humanitarian network in the world. Its mission is to alleviate human suffering, protect life, health and uphold human dignity, especially during armed conflicts and other emergencies.
