St. Kitts Teachers Union releases Week of Activities in Celebration of Teachers

In celebration of Teachers Day and Month, the St. Kitts Teachers Union has released a week of activities.

 

Teachers Day (October 5th), marks the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, according to un.org. It sets standards regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers for their initial preparation, further education, recruitment, employment, and learning conditions.

 

On Saturday, October 1st 2022, a church service will be held at the Molineux Seventh Day Adventist Church followed by another church service at the Unique Touch Christian Center on Sunday, October 2nd 2022.

 

Monday has been designated as ‘Retired Teachers Appreciation Day’ whereby those that have already left the profession will be honoured for their contributions and Tuesday will be recognized as World Teachers Button Day.

 

On October 5th, Teachers Day, special assemblies will be held in all schools across the island of St. Kitts in honour of Teachers.

 

A reception for new teachers will be held on Thursday, October 6th at the Good Vibes Lounge at 7:00 p.m. and  a Teachers Empowerment Day event at the St. Kitts Marriott’s Resort on Friday, October 7th
