STPS’ Principal arrested for gun-related charges, “false”

Nevis’ Superintendent of Police has debunked claims of St. Thomas’ Primary School (STPS’) Principal being arrested on gun related charges.

It comes following claims that were circulated on social media earlier in March.

Mr. Alonzo Carty explained the situation to the VONNEWSLINE and said that contrary to social media posts, the claim is “false”. He stated “a search warrant for Cannabis was executed on the premises of the Principal and her husband’s property.”

“Her husband was taken into custody and he has since received bail. But the Principal was summons to appear to court”, Sup. Carty said. Additionally, the Principal is not in police custody.

Following the buzz on social media, Mr. Carty urged the Nevisian public to be mindful and accurate when disseminating information.
