Taiwan Partners with St. Kitts and Nevis to Combat Anxiety Through Advanced Training
On September 25th, 2025, (16) healthcare professionals gathered at the Solid Waste Conference Room in St. Kitts, for a transformative training workshop on Anxiety Disorders. This session, part of the Taiwan ICDF–Ministry of Health Mental Health Service Enhancement Project, aimed to bolster local healthcare capacity in St. Kitts and Nevis.
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health condition globally, affecting 359 million people in 2021, according to the World Health Organization. Recognizing the need for better mental health care, St. Kitts and Nevis has partnered with Taiwan to improve services.
The workshop, led by Taiwan Technical Mission Project Manager Ivy Shih, focused on practical strategies for managing anxiety. It was one of four core modules in the broader Mental Health Service System Enhancement Project, which also includes schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression.
Participants consisting of healthcare professionals from both islands saw significant improvement in their post-training scores after the intensive 3-hour session. The curriculum, created by trainers who underwent 5 weeks of training in Taiwan, emphasized real-world applicability, offering multiple treatment options for anxiety beyond medication.
