Team St Kitts places 2nd in the Leeward Islands Debating Competition

Team St. Kitts represented by students of the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC) placed 2nd in the Leeward Islands Debating Competition in Antigua.

 

 

 

The competition was held over the weekend. On March 4th, the 1st and 2nd debates took place featuring Anguilla vs St. Maarten in debate one then St. Kitts vs Antigua in debate two. On March 5th the final debate took place.

 

 

 

Team St. Kitts was comprised of: Shadésia Greene (leader on day 1), Jahzara Greene (seconder- day 1), Kayla Butler (leader in the finals), Hadassah Cuffy (seconder in the finals), Johnathan Bass and Dayneisy Rawlins.

 

 

 

Ms. Shadésia Greene and Ms. Jahzara Greene won the 2nd debate with 640 points. Team Antigua scored 580 points. The topic was “Efforts to reverse climate change are doomed to fail”.

 

 

 

However, during the finals on Sunday, St. Maarten was declared the overall the winner of the competition.

 

 

 

CFBC extended words of gratitude to “the group of lecturers, students, and well-wishers who accompanied the team to Antigua” on their Facebook page. Similar words of commendations were extended to the debaters by Prime Minister – Dr. Terrance Drew thereafter.
