Ten inmates at Nevis Prison Farm complete Stages of Change Substance Use Program

The National Council on Drug Abuse Prevention Secretariat has completed its Stages of Change Substance Use Program at the Nevis Prison Farm.

 

 Ten inmates received certificates of completion during a special ceremony held on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025, marking a step in their personal development and rehabilitation journey.

 

 The program took place from March 18th to June 11th, 2025 and formed part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to addressing substance misuse and abuse through targeted education, rehabilitation, and personal empowerment initiatives. The sessions were facilitated by Drug Prevention Officer, Ms. Ishelle Huggins and Drug Misuse Intervention Officer, Ms. Nigenda Walters.

 

 Core topics of the programme included the Stages of Change, Myths and Misconceptions of Substance Use, Personal Values: Reinforcing identity and purpose, Healthy Relationships: Building positive social connections, Weighing Pros and Cons, Self-Control and Goal Setting.
