The countdown to St. Kitts and Nevis’ 43rd Independence Anniversary begins

With just over 30 days until Saint Kitts and Nevis celebrates its 43rd Anniversary of Independence, a list of activities was released, under the theme: “One People, One Vision, Endless Possibility: Independence 43.”

 

Among the highlights will be a series of National Colours Days, inviting citizens to celebrate national pride by wearing the colours of the flag. Green will be worn on August 28th, yellow on September 4th, red on September 11th, and white on September 17th. On September 18th, citizens are encouraged to wear the full national colours, while black will be worn on September 25th.

 

The celebrations will also feature the Independence Discussion Series, “Conversations: Reflections and the Way Forward,” creating space for national dialogue about the Federation’s journey and future.

 

Another major highlight is the Prime Minister’s Independence Lecture Series slated for Tuesday, September 8th, 2026, beginning 7:00 p.m. at the Sir Cecil Jacobs Auditorium of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB). This year’s featured speaker is Emmy Award-winning journalist and executive producer Jego Armstrong, a proud son of the soil. Mr. Armstrong grew up in Newtown, St. Kitts. He currently holds an illustrious career where he works with famously known international newsrooms and major global events including the New York Daily News, Bloomberg and MS NOW formerly MSNBC.
