The Department of Gender Affairs honors exceptional men from the federation for International Men’s Day
Under the theme: “Promoting Positive Male Role Models”, General Manager of VON Radio and Nevisian, Evered ‘Webbo’ Herbert won the Regional Men’s Award Title on Saturday, November 30th 2024, during the International Men’s Day Award Ceremony, which was held at the Ramada Resort in St. Kitts. During the ceremony, it is understood that Mr. Herbert has made a lasting impact on the region’s media landscape.
In St. Kitts, the award was also given to Pastor Peter Paul who is known for hosting his annual Father’s Day Breakfast and Conversations initiatives. The event was organized by the Department of Gender Affairs. Each year, International Men’s Day is celebrated on November 19th. It is a day that honours the positive value men bring to the world, their families and communities.
The department celebrated 21 illustrious men within the federation inclusive of Mr. Herbert and Mr. Paul. Other awardees that were recognized for their entrepreneurship role were:
In the Creative Economy category: Mr. Glenville Fahie (Nevis) and Mr. Omu-Dele Adams (St. Kitts). Community Activism: Both Mr. Samuel Williams and Mr. Anton Hicks on (Nevis) and Mr. Alex Struan in (St. Kitts), Sustainable Development: Mr. Ervin ‘Ounce’ Weekes (Nevis) and Mr. Cromwell Williams (St. Kitts) and Mr. Leroy Ponteen out of St. Kitts for Entrepreneurship.
In the Sports category: Mr. Frankie Claxton (Nevis) and Mr. Elvis ‘Pepe’ Isaac (St. Kitts), Mr. St. Clair ‘Chico’ Guishard in (St. Kitts) for Men in Media, Mr. Edison Warner on Nevis and Mr. Anthony Mills (St. Kitts) for Disability Empowerment.
The Legacy Award went to Mr. Mr. Antonio ‘Abonaty’ Liburd on (Nevis) and Mr. Leroy Powell in (St. Kitts) and the Prime Minister’s Award was given to Mr. Reiner Doan Ferdinand.
