In St. Kitts and Nevis for 2025, preliminary data shows a notable reduction in traffic accidents and road fatalities in 2025 compared to the previous year. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Cromwell Henry, authorities recorded 1,767 traffic accidents in 2024, while 2025 figures dropped to approximately 1,590, reflecting an overall decline in collisions.
Fatal accidents also decreased significantly. In 2024, there were 13 fatal traffic accidents, compared to seven in 2025. All seven fatalities in 2025 occurred in St. Kitts, with none recorded in Nevis. Officials say the figures indicate progress in road safety efforts, although a full breakdown of accidents, categorized as slight, serious, or non-injury has not yet been completed.
At the same time, traffic enforcement activity increased. In 2024, police issued 6,852 traffic tickets across St. Kitts and Nevis. That number rose to 10,103 in 2025. Authorities attribute the rise in violations to a growing number of vehicles and drivers on the road, rather than deterioration in driving behavior.
Overall, officials say they are satisfied with the reduction in both accidents and fatalities, viewing the figures as a positive trend for road safety.
